
James Miles Johnson, 89, passed away on February 14, 2014. He was born October 24, 1924, a native of Indianapolis, attended Arsenal Technical High School. At 18, he served his country by joining the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Also, he served in the C.B.I. theater of war (China, Burma, India) by flying over the Himalayan Mountains on missions. This was called “flying over the Hump” as those in the Army Air Force called those missions. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Bronze Star, among others.
Jim was a 32nd degree Mason. Photography was a passion of his.He enjoyed taking pictures of creatures living outdoors, as well as incidents that are part of city life. He was an excellent photographer.
He leaves behind three children, Mark Johnson, Laura Montgomery, and Johnny Johnson; and a stepson, Steven Land. He also leaves a sister, Barbara Horner; as well as 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.Online condolences may be made at www.indianafuneralcare.com
